How Many Bóng Sáu 膀手? Pt2

Chèunhg Bóng Sáu 長膀手

So far, we have seen that traditionally there are three kinds of Bóng Sáu 膀手. The normal Bóng Sáu, which is soft and Chìhn Bóng Sáu 前膀手 and Wàahng Bóng Sáu 橫膀, which are both hard. However, after over 40 years of experience, I have invented another Bóng Sáu which I call Chèunhg Bóng Sáu 長膀手  – Long Bóng Sáu. Chèunhg Bóng Sáu is also soft. So now we have two soft and two hard and this is balance. Up to now, I have discovered four kinds of Bóng Sáu. Chèunhg Bóng Sáu is a long Bóng Sáu. What is the difference between a normal Bóng Sáu and Chèunhg Bóng Sáu? It is a bit like Chèunhg Wuh Sáu 長護手- Long Wuh Sáu and normal Wuh Sáu 護手. In Chèunhg Bóng Sáu the forearm is longer, extended out further and the body is more sideways. The arm is a bit like a length of bamboo, which is soft, but firm inside. It can therefore bounce the opponent’s attack back at them, but at the same time it is soft enough to take and absorb an attack or slapping hand. So Chèunhg Bóng Sáu is not for redirecting, pushing forwards or hitting sideways. It is used for defence and for bouncing the opponent’s attack so that they cannot come through to our centre. With a Chèunhg Bóng Sáu we do not have Wuh Sáu as this will distort our posture and affect our sensitivity.
