Grandmaster Tse’s Wing Chun Note 375

108 Movements – Part 4

Nowadays, virtually everyone knows that in the Chinese Calendar we have 12 animal years. Each year belongs to a different animal. This year, (2022) for example, is the Year of the Tiger. The Tiger is powerful and strong and so this is the energy of the year. Each animal has its own energy, the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Dog, and Pig. We can imagine the energy or each animal. Also, we have 12 hours in a day and so it means that on the old Chinese clock each hour is the equivalent of two hours on the clock we all use today. Chinese time begins at 11pm, each half hour is Yin and the next is Yang, so 11pm to 12am is Yin and 12am to 1am is Yang, this makes sense, and so the clock continues until it starts again. On each day 11pm is similar, so 11pm today is similar to 11pm tomorrow etc. It is the same with the animals after a 12-year cycle it repeats so the Year of the Tiger now is similar to the 12 years ago and it will be the same for 12 years in the future. It means that everything repeats. For telling the time 12 years repeat, 12 months repeat, 12 days repeat, and 12 hours repeat. 12 is the time
