Ng Mui Sitai  五枚師太 – Part 3

Bīu Zī 標指

She put all these hand techniques together and created some forms like Tsum Kìuh 尋橋 and Bīu Zī 標指. I believe that Siu Lim Tao 小念頭 was created last. Ng Mui Sitai 五枚師太 in the beginning wanted the (Wing Chun) skill to focus on fighting first, particularly using techniques like Páak Sáu 拍手and Gāau Chaā Sáu  交叉手. After the fighting techniques had been trained she will have then thought about internal training like Qigong, Gong Lik功力, health and meditation. Shaolin Kung Fu in particular relates to Chan 禪Buddhism and so mediation is a big part of Chan Buddhist training and so Shaolin training. Forms and movement is body training, and meditation is mind training. A complete and healthy level of Kung Fu needs both, mind and body, so Siu Lim Tao would have been created at the end to balance the mind. In Siu Lim Tao we need to stand for a long time and this calms the mind down and develops the Qi, and letting it flow to heal any problems in the body full. Standing for a long time also trains the bones and this makes the body stronger and especially makes the punching and kicking become very powerful. So I believe in the beginning Tsum Kìuh was created first and then Bīu Zī was created as an advanced level of fighting. Siu Lim Tao was created at the end for health and internal training.
