Master Tse’s Wing Chun Note 233

Ng Mui Sitai 五枚師太- Part 2

The kicks she would use needed to be low

Ng Mui Sitai 五枚師太 had a very high level of Shaolin Kung Fu. Her skill used gentle energy and lighter moves and so when she saw the crane defeat the wildcat this inspired her to develop the gentle and light skills even further. She knew there was no point in trying to develop herself to be as powerful as a man as men would always be more powerful. So the Wing Chun basic hands must have been created at this time, hands such as Bóng Sáu 膀手, Fuhk Sáu 伏手, Hyūn Sáu 圈手, etc.  those gentle Wing Chun hands techniques, but I am not sure had Taan Sáu 攤手 be created at the beginning of time. Of course she must already have had certain hands which were like or very similar to the basic hands of Wing Chun, however Ng Mui Sitai wanted to develop the gentler Kung Fu techniques to even higher level.

The fight between the crane and the cat made her think a lot and she developed a strategy that likes to be close to the opponent, one that used both hands and struck more than once rather than just one heavy strike like a strong punch, chop or kick. To overcome a stronger and bigger person she needed to be close to them, to be able to move faster and use both hands more frequently together, with good footwork and movements. Just like the crane had done, dodging left and right to avoid the cats attack. The kicks she would use needed to be low as to kick high is dangerous when you are so close your opponent and also kicking low means the opponent will be unable to see the kick coming.
