Chèunhg Kìuh Faat Gihng 長橋發勁
and Dyún Kìuh Faat Gihng 短橋發勁 – Part 4

The advantage of Chèunhg Kìuh Faat Gihng 長橋發勁 is not that the most powerful. Dyún Kìuh Faat Gihng 短橋發勁 is more powerful. However, in a fight, whoever can hit their opponent first has the most change of winning the fight. So we need to develop the power of our Chèunhg Kìuh Faat Gihng as once we can Faat Gihng at close range, from any position, then we can always hit first and we will continue to hit the same spot which makes it very powerful. It is like a strong piece of glass, that has a crack in it. If you keep hitting the same spot on the crack, the glass will be shattered. This is the Wing Chun way of fighting, continuously hit the same spot and do not withdraw your fist, keep hitting one after another. So Chèunhg Kìuh Faat Gihng is very useful and very powerful. When we use our Chèunhg Kìuh Faat Gihng, we should not only hit fast, but we should also hit the opponent’s centre of gravity, and we should be able to do this from any position. Then we may make them lose their balance and even knock them down. Dyún Kìuh Faat Gihng is more powerful, but it will not necessarily knock the opponent down or make them lose their balance.
